Carcass Tracking
CAT Squared’s Carcass Tracking module provides end-to-end traceability and real-time yield analysis from slaughter through chilling. Carcasses—or individual sides—can be tagged at evisceration using RFID tags, visual ear tags, or 2D barcodes. This enables processors to track each side through stunning, bleeding, trimming, grading, weighing, and chilling, ensuring full carcass-to-farm traceability. The system is ideal for beef and pork plants that require individual animal tracking for export compliance or premium programs.
Live operations and quality assurance managers can monitor hot and cold weights, grading outcomes, condemnations, and shrink loss through live dashboards. Each carcass side is digitally paired with its unique tag, creating a chain of custody that helps identify where yield loss occurs—particularly in the deboning process. This empowers floor personnel to take proactive steps to reduce waste and improve performance in real-time.
The module integrates with rail scales and supports automated hot and cold weight capture. As each carcass side enters the hot scale, the system records weight and assigns grade. Later, cold weights are captured automatically for comparison and yield calculation. Sub-product weights—including hocks, horns, hides, and heads—are captured using hopper scales, Modbus-enabled scales, or DataCats, giving operations teams a complete view of yield by component.
